Teams will be review in a preseason pick of order to finish….
#6 Northwest Hurricanes (0-1)
They have some of the best athletes in the league, but NO DEPTH or SIZE!!! DB/WR Croom, DB/RB Ivory, WR/DB Stout, DL Scott and OL Noel can all ball, but not for 120+ plays a game!!! There is nothing to talk about especially playing the Kings, Ravens, Bengals, Rage and Storm until you get some LINEMAN! Non-divisional games versus Cobras and Vipers may be their only hope for a win this season in such a strong division.
#5 Kitsap County Storm (1-0)
I truly had them at #4 till I saw the QB addition for the Bengals. While they won convincingly against the Vikings, they WERE SUPPOSED TO! Not sure they have the overall team speed to compete with come of the other teams in the top of their division, While they could go as high as #3 in the division, I don’t see enough weapons on offense for them to scare the defense of the Ravens, Bengals, Rage or Kings. QB Pederson is a good pocket quarterback, but he isn’t as young as he used to be and was never a running threat so pressure will get to him. Can coaches Bellamy, Rambo and Crumbley upset their old team the Kings and send the semi pro world into shock?
#4 Pierce County Bengals
Quietly, they could be a sleeper team. The addition of QB Gerald Bryant from the Outlaws paired with RB Baines and WR Baines could give them an athletic and FAST offense, but with the Ravens, Kings and Rage within the division they may face even faster defenses. Game this week versus Viper’s on the road will validate this ranking or call my ish.. Big win in week one would show they will be competitive and 4-4 is a realistic goal for this team if not 5-3!
#3 Tri-cities Rage (0-1)
Their 55-14 blowout sounded bad till i found out starting QB Layton Brown, RB Myke Summers and LB Izzy Mercado were not in attendance. While QB Jordan Inge made a commendable fill in, you have to be at your best and full strength when you play the Raiders. They will have a unique advantage for home games and Div I opponents non-division games means they should get to 5-3, but week 1 match-up with Wolfpack will set tone for season! Need win going into HUGE week 2 match-up with Kings! They could be control of Division II with wins in their 1st 2 games!
#2 Puyallup Kings
They have said it all…..
#1 Renton Ravens (1-1)
While i know they lost to the Grizzlies in their preseason game, I also know the 8-10 guys who showed up to practice that following week! Many people will gaff and scoff and them being picked to win in the same division as the returning champs, but family and experience can sometimes overcome talent and youth! In this case, the Ravens have the right atmosphere and a tone of veteran talent coming over that has been together fro YEARS! Usually you say 6 guys coming over would need to mesh, but many of these guys were part of the 2009 National Champion Ravens so this is nothing new to them. Week 3 at Kings followed by Raiders will show us if the Ravens are for real or not!
Division II is hands down the toughest division. The Bengals and Rage would probably dominate Division III and the top 3 teams may be the best in the league! Can the Kings stay humble and make it through the season? Can the Rage be the special team I anticipate after getting some key Mavs? Can the Ravens show their 2009 form? I think the latter is the most likely to come true.. Honestly, the team who wins the division probably DOESN’T win the championship!
